The Company was founded in 2006, after demerging from the property and investment business of London Merchant Securities which originated in the 1960s and itself merged its property division in 2007 to form Derwent London.

LMS began a realisation strategy, successfully returning £172m to shareholders by August 2017. The remaining portfolio of £60.6 Million compared to an initial market capitalisation of £155m.

In 2016, an external manager was appointed  and the company adopted a new investment policy.

LMS Capital returned to Internal Management with the Board taking direct responsibility and accountability for strategy and performance.
